A large and enthusiastic crowd was in attendance at Logan Park on Friday night to witness the 2016 Endeavour Locksmiths Warragul Cup. It was won in sensational style by the outsider of the field “To The Galo’s” who started brilliantly from box 4, took the lead before the first turn and never looked like being headed. His scintillating turn of foot saw him break the track record and collect the $47,000 first prize. Favourite “Pop the Cork” was slow to begin and was never a threat. “Big Ticket” was gallant in defeat in finishing second but never looked like catching the winner.
“To The Galo’s trainer Garry Selkrig recorded his second Warragul Cup win, previously winning with “Stagger” in 2012. “To The Galo’s” record now stands at 18 wins with prize money of $122,000. With a number of country cups on the offer over the next 6 weeks “To The Galo’s” and his owners may well be in for a profitable time.
